[EAN: 9780702212673], Gebraucht, guter Zustand, [PU: University of Queensland Press], AUSTRALIA, PLANT COMMUNITIES, University of Queensland Press, 1979. Softcover (14 x 22 cm), 141 pages. ISBN: 0702212679. Very Good condition. Bumped, scuffed. Pages tanning. Foxing noted along top edge. "Less than a half day's journey from Brisbane, and until recently largely undisturbed, the vegetation of North Stradbroke Island is typical of that along the coast of Eastern Australia. The area therefore is ideal for the study of the impact of man on the various plant communities, and so is of interest to students of pure science, natural science, agricultural science, and, of course, to conservationists and laymen. 'The Vegetation of North Stradbroke Island' shows how observational studies of plant communities can be undertaken with simple equipment. The book also provides methods for describing plant communities in quantitive terms. Brief accounts of climate, physiography, geology, and soils of the island are given to enable discussion on the role of the environment in controlling the distribution of vegetation types. To assist in plant identification all species encountered are listed along with their life forms, a calendar of flowering times has been compiled for the common forest and heath species, lists of genera grouped with respect to flower colour, fruit type, and other conspicuous characteristics are also included. Student notes and illustrations of some common animals of the mangrove and marine meadow communities appear along with a list of introduced species." *Please Note* The shipping cost for this book for domestic (Australian) customers will be less [A$7.95] than the default quoted amount if the parcel weighs less than 500g after packaging. The postage reduction will be taken when sale is processed/finalized. Weight (before packaging): 240g.<
