Pormenores referentes ao livro
Art to Hear: Bauhaus. A Conceptual Model

About 35 major works from the twentieth century's most successful school of design are featured on this original audio and book tour of the show, as part of Hatje Cantz's educational and informative Art to Hear series. The companion volume features full-color illustrations of each of the selected classic Bauhaus works of art and craft, that provide a perfect introduction to the achievements of this extraordinary institution. To celebrate the ninetieth anniversary of the founding of the Bauhaus, a large exhibition has been organized by three of the most important Bauhaus institutions in Germany: the Bauhaus Archiv Museum of Design in Berlin, the Stiftung Bauhaus in Dessau and the Bauhaus Museum of the Klassik Stiftung in Weimar. This exhibition has prompted the re-evaluation of the history and influence of the art school upon which this guide is based.

The official audio exhibition guide of the anniversary exhibition in Berlin, with a compact, illustrated volume.
The Bauhaus—founded in Weimar in 1919, based from 1925 in Dessau, and ultimately closed in Berlin in 1933—has to this very day remained German culture’s most influential, successful export of the twentieth century. More than seventy years after its closure, the reputation of this interdisciplinary school of art, architecture, design, and theater has not lost any of its brilliance. To celebrate the ninetieth anniversary of its founding, an extensive exhibition has been organized by three of the most important Bauhaus institutions in Germany: the Bauhaus Archive in Berlin, the Stiftung Bauhaus in Dessau, and the Bauhaus Museum of the Klassik Stiftung in Weimar. The presentation will reexamine and reevaluate the history and influence of the art school. About thirty-five selected major works from the twentieth century’s most successful school of design are featured on this original audio guide through the exhibition and its companion volume, which contains full-color illustrations throughout. (German edition ISBN 978-3-7757-2450-0) Exhibition schedule: Martin Gropius Bau, Berlin, July 22–October 4, 2009 Museum of Modern Art, New York, November 3–January 18, 2009
