[EAN: 9789531693073], Neubuch, [PU: Hrvatska sveucilisna naklada, Zagreb], TUDMANOV ARHIV, TU¿MAN, TUDMAN, DOMINOVIC, MIROSLAV TUDMAN, Jacket, The six books of Tudman's Archive contain the correspondence of the first Croatian president with foreign statesmen, the Holy See, heads and representatives of international organizationes, heads of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (SFRY) and the former Yugoslav republics, representatives of the Croatian and Bosnian nations in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), etc. from 1990 to 1999. This material comprises 1,397 documents which have yet to become available to the public and researchers. This original and authentic material will be indispensable to understanding and research of modern Croatian history. Tudman's Archive is especially important to an understanding of Croatian official policy in the complex and dramatic historical circumstances in the last decade of the 20th century, culminating in the collapse of Yugoslavia, Croatia's international recognition, and the aggression of the communist Yugoslav People's Army (Jugoslavenska narodna armija - JNA) and the occupation of a third Croatian territory by rebel Serbs and JNA. Dr. Franjo Tudman was Croatia's head of state because, as a historian and statesman, he knew how to offer a realistic political program for creating a Croatian state amidst complex international circumstances. He knew and understood political and historical opportunities and changes that presented themselves not only in Yugoslavia, but in Europe as well. Thus, his correspondence with foreign representatives and statesmen is not only courteous and technical in nature, but is an expression of active participation and the creation of political solutions that, in the end, brought Croatia its international recognition, liberated occupied territory, and integrated Croatia into international organizations. Ther publishing of President Tudman's correspondence will make public the inaccessible side of political opinions advocated by various national and international political options and parties in conflict, and will make clear how compromises and political solutions were reached. The publishing of this correspondence is yet another contribution to an understanding of overall political changes in Europe and to an understanding of the reasons for the collapse of multi-national states that had been led by a supra-national ideology and/or hegemony., Books<
